Tom Glavine's anticipated reunion with the Braves could be finalized quickly, the veteran pitcher's representative said Saturday after negotiations brought the sides close to an agreement on what's likely to be a one-year contract worth about $8 million.

You may not be able to count on him down the stretch but he's good for 200+ innings.

Wow, how little 8 million gets you now a days. Nothing against Glavine...but he is way past his prime.

I know...I'm not very happy about this deal....2 40-something pitchers & one who hasn't pitched in 2 1/2 years (Hampton).....YIKES.....

Yep...neither is named Randy Johnson, Clemens or Ryan...so over 40 is over the hill.

I'm not either. I'm not a Glavine fan anyway. But if the man can get us some wins and take us to the "big one" then that's what counts. We'll just have to see how this plays out.

Dude smoltz is as good as hes ever been, and I like the Glavine deal, he brings more than his pitching, he brings leadership and reunion with Smoltz and the Braves. People say 8 million was too much but lest we forget he turned down the mets offer of 13 million to comeback to ATL. It will be good to see him in a Braves uniform again..As for Hampton, hes a wild card, he could come back strong or he can get injured again and continue to collect his fat check, I will be glad when we are relieved of his horrid contract..

Cool Re: Glavine:$8M Contract Likely

Let the Braves have him. Down the stretch he disappeared for the Mets.
