Schuerholz Resigns as Braves GM

John Schuerholz has resigned as general manager for the Atlanta Braves, but will remain as team president. Schuerholz was the man who built the Braves organization into a 14-year division champion, along with one World Series.

Frank Wren, the assistant GM will become the new Braves GM.

It certainly is the end of an era in Atlanta.

Interesting, ESPN made this sound like a promotion from GM to Team President. Either way, it certainly is the end of an era, like you guys said.

He did get promoted, however Im sad because he made really good deals with the salary and players we had in the past, I hope it coninues in the future with this new guy, something I found interesting is on wikipedia it says hes considered to be one of the leading candidates for replacing Bud Selig when he steps down in early 2009..

He was one of the best executives - hopefully if this guy's his disciple, he's learned well.

And Schuerholz as commissioner? Interesting, first time I'd heard that. Think he'd be a good one?

true but I dont think selig has had much to do with that, ratings and profit are up because of baseball and the fans who have love for it again..
