| Braves, TBS parting ways Over the past three decades, thousands of Braves games have been televised nationally on TBS. Just 10 more to go.Sunday's Braves-Cardinals game and nine September games will end a tradition that began in 1977, when Ted Turner had the seemingly outrageous idea of bouncing his bad baseball team's games off a satellite and across the nation. It was an idea that would help shape the fledgling industry of cable television, as well as the business of sports media. For a while, the ubiquitous Braves even earned the moniker "America's Team." But after years of declining ratings for Braves games outside the Southeast, TBS next season will replace the team as national programming with a package of Sunday afternoon league-wide games. TBS also will carry postseason games for the first time starting this fall, airing all four division series plus the National League Championship Series. Braves games will continue to air locally next season on over-the-air channel WTBS, which will be renamed Peachtree TV, as well as on regional cable networks SportSouth and FSN South. First, though, TBS will mark the end of an era. A group of Turner Sports veterans, led by longtime coordinating producer Glenn Diamond, recently chose the 10 top moments from 31 seasons of Braves telecasts on TBS. Many memorable moments from recent seasons, including all postseason games, aired on networks other than TBS and thus weren't included in the deliberations. Still, "it was difficult limiting it to 10," Diamond said. "I'm sure every fan can think of five more to argue for." On each of its final 10 Braves telecasts this season, starting with this afternoon's game, TBS will re-air one of its top Braves moments from the past three decades. All 10 will be available on Braves.com. Braves, TBS parting ways | ajc.com |

| Re: Braves, TBS parting ways Wow, end of an era. I'm not even from the Atlanta area, obviously, but I've been watching the occasional Braves game on TBS for as long as I can remember, and that coming to an end doesn't feel right. I'll definitely have to make sure to watch on last game on the Superstation before they put their national Braves broadcasts on ice.

I don't get WGN but it'd stink if they stopped carrying Cubbies games, you know? I don't know why the regional thing is viewed as a negative. |

Yep...this is just wrong...it's like kicking Cosell off Monday Night Football...it just ain't the same without him. |

| Re: Braves, TBS parting ways TBS has changed a lot and will continue to change. Ted Turner built the station with pro wrestling and baseball and both are gone now (at least in terms of the Braves nationally). I hope that TBS improves their look & feel of the presentation. It just doesn't feel right when I check out a TBS baseball game. |

| Re: Braves, TBS parting ways Are they done with baseball entirely? I thought they were going to do games, but make it a game of the week style. I also heard they would still be on a couple times a week just not Braves only. Was I misinformed?? |

| Re: Braves, TBS parting ways It's all very sad - I became a Braves fan back in the early 80s solely because of watching them play on TBS. Over the last few years they've decreased their t.v. schedule, and now that's it. An end of an era... |
