Brian McCann and John Smoltz were named to the 2007 MLB All-Star Game on Sunday, which immediately brings to mind one snub - Édgar Rentería. Rentería is hitting .326 with 10 home runs and 43 RBI. Did McCann and Smoltz deserve the honor, and should Rentería be joining them?

Smoltz is very deserving, but there has to be a better catcher than McCann out there. Renteria did have a good first half, but the problem is if you take him, who does he replace. The other SS had great seasons too.

well, the only other catcher in consideration besides Russell Martin, who's starting, is Paul Lo Duca. I looked up their numbers:

McCann: .258 BA, 7HR, 41RBI, .311 OBP, .422 SLG%
Lo Duca: .280 BA, 5HR, 24RBI, .329 OBP, .371 SLG%
Martin: .306 BA, 9HR, 55RBI, .371 OBP, .483 SLG %

exactly, mcannn is deserving, smoltz is no question, renterria should be there but were also forgetting tim hudson who I think shouldve been picked as well..
