The Atlanta Braves will play their fourth Sunday night game in seven weeks on July 22, when they host the St. Louis Cardinals. ESPN wants to broadcast the game, but Atlanta has to head to the West Coast for a series against San Francisco that starts that Monday night, and they're not happy about being forced to play seven hours later than scheduled.
Here's the really funny part. According to the AP, "Jeff Francoeur, the Braves' union representative, called the players' association to lodge a complaint but there's nothing it can do.
While the labor agreement does require an off day when a team is traveling from the Pacific to Eastern time zones, there's nothing that covers a trip in the opposite direction." Say what now? Are you kidding me? Way to stick it to the East Coast teams, guys!
