ESPN and Pa. Sportsticker are both reporting that Arkansas has fired head coach Houston Nutt.

Apparently not even beating #1 LSU could save his job. Was this the right move?

Get this - ESPN is reporting that Arkansas actually did offer him a two-year extension after the LSU game. So what happened?

Nutt resigned.


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Embattled Arkansas coach Houston Nutt resigned Monday, giving up his job three days after directing the Razorbacks to a victory over top-ranked LSU. Defensive coordinator Reggie Herring will coach the team in its bowl.


Nutt told Chancellor John A. White that he wanted to close a chapter in his life.

I'll tell you what happened to our coach- the second most winningest coach ever at UofA. The unrealistic fans!! I hate the way they put pressure on the coaches. They ran off Lou Holtz too. Get this: ARKANSAS IS NEVER GOING TO BE POPULAR ACROSS THE NATION LIKE NOTRE DAME BECAUSE YOU ARE UNREALISTIC!!! The Hogs don't have the money or prestige to compete with them or USC. We will get a stupid coach to replace Nutt because all the great coaches know how most Hawg fans are(and they are pigs.) Too much pressure, no matter how many you win. I bet Nutt goes to Nebraska and wins a championship.

Nutt landed at Ole Miss - great hire he will make Ark sorry.

Can't say that I blame you for feeling bad. Nutt was the best thing Ark had going for them and the fans are going to realize it sooner rather than later.

All Nutt did was compile a 10-year record of 75-48 (.610) and three SEC West championships including two trips to the conference championship game.
