Instead, it's a group under immediate pressure to win. I think the talent level is good enough here to win a lot of basketball games, to get in the postseason," Pelphrey said cautiously at media day last month. "How many teams across the country can make those claims? Probably quite a few."
When the No. 19 Razorbacks open the season Friday night against Wofford, they'll take the court with an AP Top 25 ranking for the first time since 2000, when Nolan Richardson was the coach. Stan Heath helped rebuild the program after Richardson was fired, but Heath was dismissed following last season's loss in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Pelphrey was brought in to take Arkansas to greater heights.
