Lute had a stroke in the frontal part of his brain...the doctors seem optimistic he will recover. The doctor advised him to step down. This from the press conference that just took place here in Tucson.

More info from my inside sources, the stroke happened earlier this year and Lute thought he could battle through it. His doctors convinced him to step down and he now is battling depression. Lute did not attend the press conference, his doctor and family did.

As a long time fan of Lute's, dating back to when I was a kid in Long Beach and Lute was coaching Long Beach City College and then Long Beach State, I wish the best for Lute and his family. We will miss his presence on the court and all that he has done for the communities of Long Beach and Tucson. I had a chance to meet him when I was about 12 years old, he came to our school and spoke to our class. A class act always, good luck in your recovery coach!

I now understand all the strange things that have happened surrounding the program recently. I just hope coach recovers and enjoys his retirement, he deserves it.
