Idaho athletic director Rob Spear has confirmed that the Vandals coach Dennis Erickson will leave the school after one season to take the coaching job at Arizona State. Erickson has a 149-64-1 record in 18 seasons as a college coach. Good hire for the Sun Devils?

Lemme see... I know of Idaho (twice), Miami and Oregon State, but I heard this will be his third Pac-10 job, so I'm missing something somewhere.

I think of Dennis Erickson as the Bob Huggins of college football. By hiring Erickson, Arizona State has positioned itself as a team to win. Erickson will recruit well, going after whoever may be the best talent. He always seems to have teams who are full of athletes, but teams that have bad attitudes and bad sportmanship. I think Arizona State saw a coach who could win and win fast, and that is what they went after....
