Diamondbacks Rockies 18-inning game

Wow, what a marathon contest this was - the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 2-1 yesterday in 18 innings. It was the longest game in Rockies history and it came to an end when Luis Gonzalez hit an RBI single. According to the AP, there were 15 pitchers used and they tossed a combined 514 pitches. Anyone stay up to watch all of this one?

Re: Diamondbacks Rockies 18-inning game

I don't get the Diamondbacks or Rockies game in my area. Antartica doesn't get the best cable service and the reception is flaky and covered in icicles.

Luis Gonzalez seems to be a decent hitter in the clutch. This brings back memories of the 2001 World Series where his bloop single won the game. I believe he wrote a book about that experience this year. Anybody have the opportunity to read the literature of a debatable future Hall of Famer.

Re: Diamondbacks Rockies 18-inning game

I never read the book, but heard a little about it. As for potential hall of famer, he has over 300 career HRs and 500 doubles. Add to that his world series heroics and there is a case that he may get in. As for how people here in Arizona feel, he is the absolute fan favorite and the face of the franchise. I wonder how people back east feel about him where he is less known and not as popular(especially among Yankee fans )
