Brandon Webb

Webb just completed his 2nd complete game shuout in a row with a 3-0 win at Cincinnati. The Reds are the 2nd leading scoring team in the majors. In the two games he has allowed just 2 walks while striking out 12. The win improves his record to 8-0 on the season and has to put him in the early frontrunner spot for a possible CY Young award. DBacks are now 28-19 on the season and currently hold 1st place in the NL West.

Re: Brandon Webb

He is having a phenominal season and I hope he continues on this pace for the remainder of the year. Webb (and a few other players) have really turned around to lead the Diamondbacks to the first-place spot in the NL West.

I am a personal fan of Brandon Webb, but he hasn't had such great numbers over the past few years. But lately, he has been on a very "hot" streak. His record is 7-0, with a 2.37 ERA in hist last 60.2IP. Those are definitely NL Cy Young potential numbers.

He hasn't even gotten that much publicity! Scott Kazmir and a few other surprising starters have been dominating the pitching news lately. He has been a quite star in the early part of the season, but I am sure that everyone will start to notice him.

I see that you live in Arizona so you must hear a lot about him. I will be visiting there this summer and I will buy myself a couple of jerseys.

The New York Mets will host the Arizona Diamondbacks this week. It should be a good match-up. What do you think?

The current trip through Cincinnati,New York, and Atlanta should help us see just where the DBacks stand among some of the better teams in the NL. The season is young, but it is always encouraging to see your team in first place no matter what the date is. I have tickets to the next home game on June 5 when the Phillies come to Arizona. I sure hope it works out that Webb is pitching that night.

Re: Brandon Webb

CINCINNATI (AP) -- The days Brandon Webb starts are becoming Arizona manager Bob Melvin's favorites.
Webb became the first Diamondbacks pitcher to open a season 8-0 when he threw his second straight shutout, a 3-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night. "It's making my job easy," said Melvin, whose only move was inserting Tony Clark as a defensive replacement at first base in the ninth. "I can just sit back and watch. I know he's not going 50-0, but he's on quite the roll."

Brendan Webb was on top of his game tonight, running his record to 8-0 and getting a shutout...he lowers his ERA to 2.16 in the process...can someone say "The Cy Young Watch is on!"

Re: Brandon Webb

Consecutive complete game shutouts? In this day and age, that doesn't happen very often. And he's unbeaten on the year at 8-0? Phenomenal. What exactly is this kid capable of, you think?

A few seasons ago, one of the fantasy magazines I bought had him down as a future Cy Young Award winner...the kid seems to be making good on it...I of course had the foresight to get his Bowman Chrome Rookie Baseball Card before the season began for a mere 10 cents...Never mind that I once bought Browning Nagel rookies over Bree Favre rookies...I got it right this time...

Re: Brandon Webb

Brandon Webb now has pitched 25 consecutive scoreless innings after adding 7 more innings against the Mets on wednsday night. The Mets ended up winning the game 1-0 in 13 innings as Pedro Martinez also pitched great. Webb's next start is monday night in Phoenix against the Phillies. I am lucky enough to have had tickets to this game for a few weeks and will be sitting directly behind home plate a few rows up. This should be fun!

Hey, how about taking some pictures and posting them for us?...25 innings is a heck of a lot...still a far cry from the record though...

In my book, Webb should be starting the All-Star game.

Re: Brandon Webb

Though I am for staring Webb in the All-Star game...look at Pedro's Batting Average against...a freakin .167!...that's amazing!

Re: Brandon Webb

Pedro and Webb literally pitched shutouts at each other. It was an awesome pitchers duel, but Pedro did have home field advantage going for him in that one. Mets managed to pull out a 1-0 win in 13 innings, what a game.
