Re: Brandon Webb He is having a phenominal season and I hope he continues on this pace for the remainder of the year. Webb (and a few other players) have really turned around to lead the Diamondbacks to the first-place spot in the NL West. I am a personal fan of Brandon Webb, but he hasn't had such great numbers over the past few years. But lately, he has been on a very "hot" streak. His record is 7-0, with a 2.37 ERA in hist last 60.2IP. Those are definitely NL Cy Young potential numbers. He hasn't even gotten that much publicity! Scott Kazmir and a few other surprising starters have been dominating the pitching news lately. He has been a quite star in the early part of the season, but I am sure that everyone will start to notice him. I see that you live in Arizona so you must hear a lot about him. I will be visiting there this summer and I will buy myself a couple of jerseys. The New York Mets will host the Arizona Diamondbacks this week. It should be a good match-up. What do you think?

Re: Brandon Webb CINCINNATI (AP) -- The days Brandon Webb starts are becoming Arizona manager Bob Melvin's favorites. Webb became the first Diamondbacks pitcher to open a season 8-0 when he threw his second straight shutout, a 3-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night. "It's making my job easy," said Melvin, whose only move was inserting Tony Clark as a defensive replacement at first base in the ninth. "I can just sit back and watch. I know he's not going 50-0, but he's on quite the roll." Brendan Webb was on top of his game tonight, running his record to 8-0 and getting a shutout...he lowers his ERA to 2.16 in the process...can someone say "The Cy Young Watch is on!"

Re: Brandon Webb Brandon Webb now has pitched 25 consecutive scoreless innings after adding 7 more innings against the Mets on wednsday night. The Mets ended up winning the game 1-0 in 13 innings as Pedro Martinez also pitched great. Webb's next start is monday night in Phoenix against the Phillies. I am lucky enough to have had tickets to this game for a few weeks and will be sitting directly behind home plate a few rows up. This should be fun!

In my book, Webb should be starting the All-Star game. |

Re: Brandon Webb Pedro and Webb literally pitched shutouts at each other. It was an awesome pitchers duel, but Pedro did have home field advantage going for him in that one. Mets managed to pull out a 1-0 win in 13 innings, what a game.
