DBacks acquire Jorge Julio from Mets

The Diamondbacks traded P Orlando Hernandez(El Duque) to the Mets in exchange for P Jorge Julio. Julio has a 2.04 ERA in his last 14 appearances and should help nolster the DBacks bullpen.

Wait until you guys get a load of Julio in a big spot. Talk about adding gas to the fire. I cannot believe the Mets found someone to take this guy. His acquisition for Kris Benson was a sore point for an otherwise great year so far for the Mets. El Duque must be cooked, or has a huge contract for Arizona to make this deal.

lol Wait until you see how far El Duque has regressed. He has given the DBacks maybe 1 quality start on the season, and I am being generous here. Russ Ortiz is set to replace El Duque in the starting rotation after two solid rehab stints in Tucson.

Re: DBacks acquire Jorge Julio from Mets

Julio has assumed the closer duties for the DBacks now after Valverde blew back to back games at Cincinnati and New York. Jorge Julio is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities for the DBacks. This is looking like it may have been a key pickup at this time.

Maybe this Julio's going to be another one of those guys who thrive outside of the pressure-laden Big Apple, hmm? Sure looks like he's off to a good start with Arizona, that's for sure.

I am certainly keeping an eye on him as a Fantasy pick up...

Re: DBacks acquire Jorge Julio from Mets

Do you think this hot start will hold up? I mean he has 2 saves and a 1.50 ERA in 6 games! That is incredible considering the horrible statistics he achieved in New York. It is pretty suspicious, but I am sure that it won't hold up for the rest of the season. Unless he repeats his 2002 statistics with the Orioles, it is highly impossible!

Re: DBacks acquire Jorge Julio from Mets

Just be on the lookout in case Julio falls in love with his fastball and loses faith in his change. He'll look good for a bit (he did for about a week w/ the Mets) but then resort to his 'ol self again.

Meanwhile, Duque has been decent for us so far. However, Mets fans are looking for his impact to come in the post-season.
