Arizona NLCS Tickets One of the larger stories (sadly) heading into the NLCS this year is the believed lack of excitement in Arizona for their Diamondbacks. Tickets are still available in bunches, while Colorado has sold out their tickets for Coors Field next week. "Twenty-four hours before the first NLCS game against the Colorado Rockies, the Diamondbacks still had about 4,000 seats available for Thursday's game. Another 6,000 were available for Friday's game. The years after the big win (2001), however, soured some of that support as the Diamondbacks lost often and team founding father Jerry Colangelo was bumped from the ownership group. The new owners changed the team's colors and uniform and let local hero Luis Gonzalez go. Ross, the longtime season-ticket holder, said she won't wear clothing with the team's new color, known as Sedona red. Others said they drifted away from the team as a result of the changes." Diamondbacks fans casually catch playoff fever I wonder if the crowd in Arizona will be as loud in the NLCS as the Rockies fans. Remember in the NLDS, Cubs fans seemingly took over their stadium.

PS: I think Tim Donaghy's crew is umping this series.

Re: Arizona NLCS Tickets The interference call in the 7th inning of game one was bad. The home plate ump in both games has consistently given the Rockies a strike zone far bigger than home plate, as the replays with the strike zone graphic has clearly shown repeatedly. Then there is the 1st base ump that called a strike on every check swing the DBacks had, some were not even close to being a swing. It's sad when the umps decide the outcome of games, much like they did when they called Holliday safe at home in the extra game with San Diego. All we want as fans is for the umps to be fair and consistent with their calls, we have not seen that in this series.

Re: Arizona NLCS Tickets Upton was out, but the interference was bogus. The rule is you are supposed to be able to touch the base, Upton did touch the base. Rockies had no shot at a double play even if Upton doesn't touch him, it simply ended yet another scoring threat. I'm guessing you went to bed and missed the check swing strikes the 1st base ump called all night, especially in the late innings. Pitched below the knees and off the plate called strikes all night long, but only for one team, not both. Even the announcers questioned most of the check swing strikes and also casually mentioned several times that a Jiminez pitch was not a strike but if the ump says so it is. All we want is a fair shot, and we aren't getting one.

As for the strike calls, I'll keep an eye out while watching the rest of the series. |

Re: Arizona NLCS Tickets Umps were much less biased tonight, the DBacks just failed to get anything done with all the chances they had. The 1st inning smash by Eric Byrnes that looked like it would be an easy base hit but instead turned into an inning killing DP kind of set the tone for the game. This series has been very disappointing after having such a great season.
