Matt Maske at the Washington Post is reporting that Matt Leinart is within a week of finally signing with the Cards. As we've been speculating here, Leinart is the final unsigned 1st round draft pick.

Anybody else think Paris Hilton is running the negotiations instead of his agent Tom Condon?

Paris Hilton? Nah, she's old news. I'm sure by now Mattie's moved on to some other bubble-headed Hollywood starlet. Hopefully, Leinart does sign here. He's kind of become a bit of an embarrassment and he needs to start playing some football to remind us all that he actually CAN play football. What a prima donna!

WHy is he punishing the Cardinals for his dumb mistake of going back to school. He would have had Alex Smith money last season and now he is only #10.

He definitely needs to get into camp. Kurt Warner is made of matchsticks, Elmer's glue and duct tape so if he is ther Leinart is sure to get plenty of playing time...

I dont know if he signed tonight because of Green's tirade to the media but it couldn't hurt lol. Green was totally correct in what he said but it comes with the territory of the modern day players.

In any event, Leinart will likely take over the starting duties in 'Zona by mid-season. He's got a great QB to learn from in Warner, that's for sure.

I think John Navarre's performance on Saturday had alot to do with it. It really got down to the point of no return. If he had missed another week/preseason game I think the Cards would have dug their feet in....

I think so. If you heard the soundbytes or saw it, he really ripped Leinart and probably deservedly so. Leinart can't just let go of the fact that he fell all the way to tenth in the draft. It will probably be pretty uncumfortable when for a little while when Leinart gets to camp.

"I didn't take offense to it," Leinart told the AP of Coach Green's comments. "Every coach wants his players in camp, on the team, to be at practice and all of that. Now it's over with and we put it behind us. That's what we talked about today."

Leinart reportedly started working with the second team right away, and will likely see some action Saturday.
