Call the Arizona Cardinals underdogs. Call them a lost cause to pull off yet another upset victory. As far as the Cardinals are concerned, call them whatever you want.
The NFC’s representative in Sunday’s Super Bowl against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Raymond James Stadium is using every perceived slight as motivational fuel heading into kickoff, the Arizona Republic reports.
“I’d prefer to be the underdog every time,” center Grey Ruegamer told the Republic. “If you use it right, it’s a powerful force. And it’s so much sweeter when you win.”
Added Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt: “It’s been tough, because every time you turn on the TV or read something, it wasn’t very good. You don’t have to look hard to find something that would motivate us.”

Do the Cardinals deserve disrespect?

Yeah, I know it was a weak division. But they beat the best in the other divisions in the playoffs.

As a long time Cardinals fan, I can say we're used to disrespect. That's what makes this year so sweet for Cardinals fans....a Super Bowl win would silence all the haters at least for a year! We may finally reach a day where Cardinals fans will outnumber Cowboys and Broncos fans here in Arizona!

Maybe. Most of the people here already had favorite teams before they moved here. Add to that the fact that the Cardinals have been here for 21 years now, but before that, the Cowboys and Broncos were the two nearest teams and got all the local TV coverage.
