It's believed the Cardinals have made about three different proposals to Leinart but, obviously, either the numbers, the terms or the structure was not amenable to the former USC star.

Leinart was the 10th overall choice in the draft and probably a bargain in that slot after he posted a brilliant 37-2 record as the Trojans' starter for three seasons.

I guess the third one was not the charm...This kid is being to look like a head case...I hope he figures it all out...I had high hopes for him.

Looks like the two sides may be getting closer, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports: "Talks between agent Tom Condon and the Arizona Cardinals heated up Sunday as the Cardinals tried to sign quarterback Matt Leinart, their top draft pick and one of only two remaining unsigned first-round selections... 'We're talking, but nothing is imminent,' Condon said from his office in Kansas City on Sunday night." Still, looks like there's some light at the end of the tunnel for Arizona, eh?

I think its simple math. Matt seems himself as a 1st overall type, and the Cardinals are offering a deal worthy of a 10th pick overall...The whole Vince Young deal I am sure is also being thrown around.

Don't forget that Matt Leinart earned himself a Heisman Trophy, which adds on a few more millions per year (in his mind). I think the Cardinals should just pay up to this kid because he might turn out to be their future. If he doesn't turn out to be his future, he will become their worst investment.

Which does he have a better chance of becoming, in your opinions?

Matt will go as far as he wants to go...hopeffuly he has his head screwed on right...but I just don't seem him getting serious about football yet.

Leinart's got all the talent in the world, but his attitude stinks. He seems flaky, like he's more interested in partying and making money than he is about getting serious, playing NFL football and winning a Super Bowl. I really don't know at this point if he has the demenor or the work ethic to be a top-notch QB at the professional level. We'll have to wait and see.

The Cardinals are in a fairly strong negotiating position since Warner is slotted as number 1. They are under no immediate pressure to sign him. If Warner were to go down in the 1st pre-season game, that would change.

How long can Leinart remain on the market without getting offers from other teams?

No other team can bid on him. If he doesn't sign with Arizona this year, he re-enters the NFL Draft next season and another team can select him. By the way, isn't he now the last unsigned 2006 draft pick?
