Re: Leinhart caught in photo controversy

And Petyon was older than Matt then, and already married. I don't expect the same stuff from him. I don't do the same things I did 10-15 years ago.

Which article would I rather see, obviously the Peyton one. But there is a reason why that article is special.

Ya know, Mike and Mike on ESPN were talking about how Joe Namath was looked up to as a stud for doing this kind of thing, and Matt is a bum.

If the Cards were winning, and he was the starter, this wouldn't be an issue.

This to me is just a media issue. Should Matt have been in that spot, well, I don't really have an issue with it, but some do.

I can tell ya one thing, he will not be posing for pics again any time soon.

I still say much ado about nothing.

Would folks feel better about it if he was sight seeing Williamsburg???

He still wouldn't be studying the playbook.

It's all about folks and their standards. We want all these players in a tight little box, and life doesn't work that way.

Which is all I've really been saying all along. Focus on winning first, earning your keep. Then go be Mr. Hollywood if you want to.

Re: Leinhart caught in photo controversy

Well, I just don't expect folks to change all that much. It just isn't going to happen for most people. Ya do things like this when you are young.

I'd be more surprised to see Troy Aikman do this than Matt. This is just one of those things that young guys do. They'd all do it if they had the chance. I'd hate to be a pro athlete if it means i have to act like an old fart at 22-23.

I sure wouldn't be sitting at my house in the off season!!

I just don't think it matters at all.

You seem to be in the minority on this issue.

I just think in this day and age when so many players are being arrested, that this is truly a small deal!

Hell, I'd like to party with him!

Well, with his friends anyway!

Who, me? Yeah, I guess I am. But hey, it may not be popular, but it's what I believe. When you sign an NFL contract, you assume a certain amount of responsibility to your team to work hard and maintain a particular image. It's the trade off for getting millions of dollars to play a kid's game for a living.

No!! I meant Seahawker! Actually, I thought most folks felt the way you did.

And again, this guy didn't get arrested, didn't get a dui, didn't rape or assault anyone. As far as I can figure, he didn't even use any foul language. There were no underage women. Nothing at all wrong.

And there isn't even a report that he actually slept with any of em either. Just shared some drinks and a hot tub.

He isn't married, and broke no laws.

I do respect your opinion, and anyone else that feels that would embarrass them as fans of the cards. I realize that is not the image some would want of thier team.

My biggest point is just what I stated above though.

That this is truly not a big deal, for the above mentioned reasons, that's all.

It isn't my intention to call anyone out, or berate thier opinion.

If i"ve come off that way about it, my apologies!

This really shouldn't be that big a deal!

I am gonna second it...its a marketing thing...you make yourself unmarketable for your off the field stuff, team revenue suffers...Image is a big thing in the NFL or pro sports... even crosses over to say Music...anyone remember Mariah Carey flipping out...and then the record label drops her?...same thing I think.

Re: Leinhart caught in photo controversy

Things that might be considered acceptable by society for most kids his age aren't for him because he's a public figure, an NFL quarterback, and regardless of what Charles Barkely has said, he's expected to behave like a role model. Oh well, I guess in the end he's the Cardinals problem. But this would have me thinking very strongly about taking a QB on day one somewhere in this draft if I were in the Arizona front office.

Phils, relax. No one felt you were calling anyone else out.

All those things you said are true. It shouldnt be a big deal, except for that image thing mentioned. Leinhart has a bad rep. Its like Chris Henry and his expired license plates. He has a bad rep and so the expired plates makes the news.
What these guys do in their private life is their own business. Except if it affects their obligation to their team. It would appear that Matt's social life may have an effect on him and his team. They get paid an awful lot of money and if they get hurt riding a bike without a helmet, or their social life keeps them from doing what they need to do, they are affecting a lot of people, coaches, team, fans, etc. A team's whole year can go down the tubes if their star quarterback cant play. I think that saying your rights end where mine begins comes into play here.

Well, at the end of the day, I'd take Leinhart over Henry. Does that count for anything?
