Capshaw (5-11, 195) was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the San Francisco 49ers on May 2, 2003 and was released during training camp on August 20, 2003.

A former Miami Hurricane, Capshaw finished his collegiate career with 185 punts for 7,669 yards (41.5 yard avg.) including 51 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. He was named All-Big East as a junior and sophomore at Miami while also leading the Big East in punting average as a sophomore
