| Ex-cardinal Sharpe Arrested Nikki Renner of the Arizona Republic reports that former Cardinal Luis Sharpe was arrested late Wednesday night at an adult store in Phoenix on suspicion of criminal trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia, marking the latest sad chapter in the life of the former Pro Bowl offensive lineman. The report says the 47-year-old Sharpe, who spent his entire 13-year career with the St. Louis/Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals, was arrested at the Adult Shoppe store around 9:55 p.m. About 12 hours earlier, Sharpe had been at the store and was told by a police officer to leave.
A police officer searched Sharpe and found a glass crack pipe in his pants pocket. Sharpe was arrested and booked into Maricopa County Jail.
The Republic reports that Sharpe has a long history of trouble with drugs, he has spent time in rehab, been arrested several times and been shot twice. Sharpe is not a U.S. citizen and has been ordered deported, but he has not actually been deported because the United States has no deportation treaties with his native Cuba. In June, Sharpe's 23-year-old daughter was found shot to death in Phoenix. ProFootballTalk.com -- The Best Pro Football Scoop on the Internet |
