Matt Leinart benched

Okay, so the Cards pulled Leinart for Warner yesterday, and the former MVP nearly brought them all the way back against Baltimore. So who starts this week? And what in the world does the future hold for the ex-USC QB? I mean, is Arizona starting to have doubts that he's their guy for the long term?

Re: Matt Leinart benched

I know he has some bright moments then days of total crap. He looked so bad. I bought into the hype by John Clayton saying he was going to do good this year and I drafted him in my league with my buddies...DUMB MOVE!!!!

Wow...Leinhart taking his lumps...still, it's his second year...I think we have now been condition to expect QBs to win early and often...So by today's standard...Terry Bradshaw would have been cut by the Steelers...Staubach took at least three years to develop...so he would be taking flak too...Sad really.

I personally have never been a fan of throwing a young QB to the fire in the first or really second year. They need time to learn. But also, with as much money as these teams are throwing at them (which is their own fault for allowing it to happen), they need to produce.

Re: Matt Leinart benched

I always think too much pressure is put on the young quarterbacks too.
Coach is probably trying to get him to wake up and smell the coffee. I dont think he's done yet.

Well, ain't they throwing away their money more if they killed them by playing them too early?

Cool Re: Matt Leinart benched

If they Cards are trying to make the playoffs this year, they should play Warner.

But is making the playoffs this year worth getting away from Leinart, and possibly missing the next five? Is that a trade off they should be willing to make?

I agree with you on this one lefty. You're talking about a new coach and system. Too many teams screw up their future for right now success.

I agree with him also. Leinhart is their future, not Warner. New coach, new system, it always takes time.

Count me in to this Leinhart love fest!... ...build a franchise...something Phoenix has never done.

Re: Matt Leinart benched

Oh common people, you have to know that even in the NFC where 8-8 can get you to the post season, the Cards still have little to no chance, I mean look at Detroit, I liked how they finally had a good start but anyone who thinks they'll make the playoffs 3 times in the next 5 years has been hit in the head way too many times.

The Cardinals are the biggest loser in the NFL, do you know when the last time was they won a Championship? 1947, when teams plaed 12 games a season, face it, the Cardinals are clearly the Cubs of the NFL.

BTW, Phoenix has had a good sports franchise for a while, the Suns, they've missed the playoffs only twice in 19 years.
