Re: Cardinals Unveil $450 Million Stadium

Cardinals VP Michael Bidwill is calling it "the most technologically advanced sports facility ever been built." It will have a roof that is retractable and see-through, meaning that even when closed the sun will be a factor. The natural grass field slides in and out like an oven rack, so it can be put in for gameday and taken back out if a concert or a convention is being held in the arena.

And not only does this fancy new stadium allow the Cards to open at home for the first time in ages, it will also be the home of next season's NCAA National Championship game and the 2008 Super Bowl. Between this and the signing of Edgerrin James, it looks like Arizona football fans finally have something to look forward to again!

Lets just hope that Edgerrin James likes it. That's what it's all about!

Re: Cardinals Unveil $450 Million Stadium

From what I have seen and heard from friends who live in the Phoenix area this stadium is pretty dang ugly. I think they tried to make it too modern looking and probably should have stuck to a somewhat traditional design. Or they could have just made the outside stucco like most of the buildings in the Phoenix area. They could have probably come up with some pretty sweet southwest looking architecture but they went with a futuristic spaceship look that seems out of place.

And the field that slides out? That seems like a mechanical nightmare. I could see them having problems with that for a year or two then just keeping it inside all the time and just putting in field turf (which is what they should have done in the first place).
