Richie Anderson arrested

Just heard that Cardinals assistant coach and former NFL running back Richie Anderson has been arrested for soliciting a prostitute. According to the Associated Press, "Anderson, 35, was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday for soliciting prostitution at about 9:30 p.m., Sgt. Andy Hill said. The department's vice unit was conducting an undercover sting operation in south Phoenix when Anderson allegedly solicited an officer posing as a prostitute." Think Whisenhunt will fire him for this?

No, I really don't. Nor should they. Who's he hurting?

I agree with Pundit. Imagine if they were the Las Vegas Cardinals this wouldn't even be a topic!

Arizona Cardinals assistant coach fired after sting operation
FOX11AZ.com (subscription), AZ - 8 hours ago
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Arizona Cardinals fired wide receivers coach Richie Anderson on Monday, four days after his arrest in a police prostitution sting operation.

Anderson, a fullback in the NFL for 13 seasons, was hired by new Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt in January.

Anderson, 35, was arrested Thursday night on an accusation of soliciting an undercover Phoenix police officer posing as a prostitute.

"I wanted a chance to review the details of the situation before making any decision," Whisenhunt said in a statement released by the team. "While it's disappointing, I've decided that this is clearly in the best interests of our team in this particular instance. Our focus is now on finding a replacement and I am confident we will be able to do that relatively soon."

Well, we don't know all the facts, but Whisenhunt sure seemed to think it was a firable offense.

Of course he does...Anderson is 35 and at the end of his career...if it was a 1st round pick that they gave a 7 million dollar signing bonus to, they would look the other way...hypocrits all...

Anderson was his RB coach, not a player. His age is irrelevant.

Ecstatic. Interesting argument, though... are coaches held to higher standards than players? Should they be?

Sure...would you not hold a commanding officer to a hire standard than a common enlisted man? A Governor to hire standard than say the shipping clerk in the Governor's staff?

Gotham: You're mischaracterizing my positions. Show me one post where I've wanted to throw the book at a guy for the "smallest of infractions.". Not once. Anybody I suggest that someone throw the book at, has shown a pattern of abominable behavior.

Anybody can make a mistake once, but 10 times?

Re: Richie Anderson arrested

Not to stray off the sports side of this but personally I think prostitution should be legalized everywhere. The ladies (and guys) could undergo tests, have actual licenses and cut down on disease and wasting the cops and the courts on this victimless offense. Hell, if I knew there weren't uncover cops posing as prostitutes I know that i'd sure...well, you know! . I think Richie Anderson is a martyr to a higher cause if he gets fired for this and if he does i'll be rooting extra hard against the Cardinals and the state of Arizona.

Nuke, at least make a pale effort to tie into sports, like it would cut down the player's stress or something...come on man...get creative...D- for effort.
