| Edgerrin James on the Cardinals -- hope not for his sake Lefty, Lefty, Lefty... Don't let Arizona fool you again. They could get Otto Graham and Ray Nitschke out there, they'd win five of their first six, amass believers and be gone by week twelve. Even Jake Plummer looked better when he left. Way better. How much more of the Arizona Cardinals' ignominious history can you recall? Remember Emmitt Smith's long reign there? Remember that year they even won a game in the playoffs? They were supposed to back the next year. The team is cursed, man, cursed, and Edgerrin James would be best advised to avoid the black hole in the desert. Cheers.

Re: Edgerrin James on the Cardinals -- hope not for his sake Eventually, it'll turn around for them. I mean, even the Red Sox won the World Series. So eventually, Arizona will make the playoffs and maybe even win their division. Someday. Er... right?

Re: Edgerrin James: Arizona Bound? Well, if they sign James, they could go OL with their first pick. Ferguson will be long gone, but they should still have a shot at Winston Justice or Marcus McNeill at No. 10. That would help somewhat. Plus they have a ton of cap room to sign free agents. If they play their cards right, Arizona could wind up as a formidable foe in 2006.

Re: Arizona Cardinals Lefty, not to be a pessimist, but haven't the Cards been in this position before? Since when were they ever over the salary cap? Since when have they not had a high first-round draft pick that could be used to address an immediate problem? (Incidentally, Desert Rat, you hit the nail right on the head there about the 'line.) Can anybody detail any or all (yeah right) of the Cardinals mistakes since, o, their last playoff win? A hard luck team indeed. The Phoenix Cardinals, i think, are god's way of indicating that he hates football in 95 degree weather. Call it home field disadvantage.

Re: Arizona Cardinals Yeah, they're quite the sad-sack team, really. They could be really good this year if they spend some money, make the right moves, and stay healthy. Dennis Green is a very good coach. Warner's shaky, but he gets the job done. Add James and some O-line help, maybe another piece or two on D, and you have a team that -- in theory, at least -- could give Seattle a push in the West. Will it actually happen, though? Probably not.

Re: Edgerrin James: Arizona Bound? The Cardinals do have possibly the best set of WRs in the NFL. Personally, I thought Josh McCown never did anything to lose his starting job and actually is the better choice over Warner because of his escapability, which is important with their OL.

Re: Edgerrin James: Arizona Bound? Finally, another Josh McCown advocate! Thank you, desertrat! I was impressed by what I saw out of the kid, and I really thought he was the future of that franchise. Now, it looks like they're going to dump him and go with ol' Kurt "Feet of Stone" Warner and John Navarre. Whoever winds up taking a flyer on McCown is going to be pleasantly surprised.
