Report Says Mike Sherman New Cardinals Coach

This has not been confirmed but Rotoworld cites a report from ProFootballTalk (hardly a completely reliable source) as saying the Arizona Cardinals will soon name former Packers head coach Mike Sherman their next football coach.

Sherman spent last season in Houston as offensive coordinator under Gary Kubiak.

Make of it what you will this point, remember, not 100% confirmed.

Re: Report Says Mike Sherman New Cardinals Coach

Well, I heard they called him back for a second interview, so... this will probably wind up being true. If so, is Sherman a good fit for Arizona? Somehow I don't believe so, thinking back to his track record in Green Bay.

Cool Re: Report Says Mike Sherman New Cardinals Coach

I don't get that. Sherman never did anything in Green Bay. If they hire Sherman, the might as well have kept Denny Green.

Sherman still hasn't been hired (could be, though), and Arizona has called Ken Whisenhunt back for a second interview.

I heard around here that Whisenhunt is not going anywhere. The coordinators made a pact that whichever one gets the head coaching job, the other is staying to help.

I don't think Arizona is a good fit for any coach. That is a stepping stone job if I've ever seen one. Use them to learn how to coach then find a real job.

The pact would apply only if the other doesn't get a head coaching job elsewhere. It's possible that Whisenhunt that could be named the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
