Well, the first firing of the season is now here. The Arizona Cardinals canned Dennis Green after a 5-11 season (third losing season during his tenure) and will buy out the final year of his contract.

The long shot to replace him is USC's Pete Carroll. Long shot I said.

I don't think it'll be Carroll, though he would be a good fit. I'm thinking Norm Chow.

Doesn't matter who they hire. Yeah, they got Leinart and E. James and a hot receiving corps. They could sign Peyton Manning and still lose. Because they're the Cardinals, and some things never change.

The fact is they've been mismanaged for decades now. The Bidwell family has driven an NFL franchise into the ground and kept it there. Until they sell the team, the Cardinals have no hope.

Oh, now I don't agree, fhirs. Yes, the Bidwells have historically done a poor job managing the team. But this year was different. They drafted Leinart. They signed a big name free agent with talent in the Edge. And most importantly, they got that state of the art new stadium. With the right coach and some help in the trenches, this team really could make a playoff push in 2007.

Of course, I could be wrong. I thought they'd make a playoff push in 2006, so...
