Re: Fire Dennis Green!

The Cardinals are about to lose to the Packers in about two minutes. This means the Cards will be on a seven game losing streak entering their bye week next week.

Green may not be fired during the year (well, if the losing streak continues he might) but he's a goner at the end of the year.

Re: Fire Dennis Green!

The bloggers are really lighting up the Fire Dennis Green talk. Here's a few bits from the blogosphere:

From The Big Picture:
Quote:
Really, what's left for the lame duck coach? He's got to be fired any day now. But until he is, we can't give him the King Level ranking. But last week Green got the Queen level and his survival took a ruptured-spleen size hit with his latest loss.
Dave's Football Blog has this to say:
Quote:
Dennis Green Can Kiss His Ass Goodbye...
If Dennis Green has a job next week, it will probably be one in which he sits at a table with Rich Eisen and Marshall Faulk…
Brad Carlson gives a Viking fan's perspective:
Quote:
So with coach Green’s job potentially at stake, how have the Cardinals (1-6 going into today's game) responded today? They had a grand total of 20 yards of offense when Green Bay went up 14-0 early in the second quarter. I guess the Cards haven’t exactly emulated the “Win one for the Gipper” thought process.
How much longer do you think Coach Green has a job in AZ?

Mark my words, the axe will fall either today or tomorrow. Green is gone.

Cool Re: Fire Dennis Green!

After yesterday's debacle, I agree that he has to go....What about Jim Fassel - he has a good history with Arizona.....Or how old is Air Coryell - he coached the Cards when they were in St. Louis....He can't be that much older than 80 or 85, same age as most of the officials in the league....

Post Fire Dennis Green! - AOL SportsBlog

The Bloggers continue to call for Cardinals coach Dennis Green to be fired.

Cardinals Lose Again; Time For Green to go | Wisconsin Football Blog - The FanHouse

I am not really a fan of firing coaches during the season but if a time ever called for it this would be one of those. Let's be realistic, Dennis Green will not be coaching the Arizona Cardinals next year. I think the entire sports world has established that so why not change coaches now and start building for next season before it gets here. Matt Leinart is getting his work in for next year, taking his lumps now so that he can apply everything he learned next year when it counts again. Michael Bidwill and the Cardinals organization may want to consider doing the same thing with a new coach. Get someone in there, get them used to the system and personnel and play for next year.

With one more loss Dennis Green with officially have the worst win-loss percentage of any head coach in Arizona Cardinals history. I'd say even being tied with that is enough to say goodbye, but one more loss should most certainly do it. However, every week that goes by is another week wasted so the Cardinals should act now. It's time for Denny to go.
Just about everyone seems to be in agreement. So, why haven't the Cardinals made a move yet?

Cool Re: Fire Dennis Green!

Is there any way at all that Dennis Green comes back next year? I don't see how but the Arizona owner is awful.

No chance at all, I would think. I for one am surprised they haven't canned him yet, even.

As long as it's not Martz, we should be fine.

Re: Fire Dennis Green!

Green is all but gone, be assured of that. Mr. James should follow him out the door, if for nothing more than referring to himself in the third person during the pre-season and saying how he was going to bring a new attitude to the Cardinals. Wow, they have a new stadium, huh? I finally went out and bought a new garbage can last summer, but when all is said and done, it is still full of the same old garbage.

Re: Fire Dennis Green!

Wouldn't Martz actually be a good fit for this offense, though? With Matt Leinart at QB and that trio of receivers?

Re: Fire Dennis Green!

I've said this about the colleges, but why is Arizona such a hard to state to win in? Outside of the National Championship the Wildcats won a little while ago, when can you think of major success from any Arizona program in the recent future?

Re: Fire Dennis Green!

Dan Patrick kept talking about Pete Caroll going to Arizona as the coach next year today on his show.

Does anyone else think that will happen?

I doubt it. Pete Carroll wants total control of football operations and I don't see the Bidwill's handing that control to him. If Pete had a change of heart, then I think it could be a possibility.
