Ducks Sign Brian Salcido

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Brian Salcido to a three-year, entry-level contract. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Salcido, 21 (4/14/85), was a junior last season at Colorado College of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), scoring 8-32=40 points with 69 penalty minutes (PIM) in 42 games. While setting career highs in goals, points and assists, Salcido’s .95 points per game ranked T-4th in the nation among defensemen. He finished fourth overall on the Tigers in points and second in assists.

The Hermosa Beach, Calif., native finished second in the WCHA in points among defensemen, behind Hobey Baker winner Matt Carle of the University of Denver. Following the 2005-06 campaign, Salcido was named All-WCHA Second Team. In 92 games at Colorado College, the 6-2, 195-pounder collected 16-55=71 points with 129 PIM. He improved his goal, assist and point totals in each of his collegiate seasons.

Salcido was drafted by Anaheim in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Re: Ducks Sign Brian Salcido

Salcido scored his first pro goal, unassisted on Oct. 7th against the Providence Bruins. The Pirates better watch out. Brain may be the Ducks firat call up.

Talking Re: Ducks Sign Brian Salcido

Friday(11-3) Brain was a healthy scratch for the Prates and was signing autographs during the second intermission. What a sweet guy he is. When I asked to take his picture, he was very happy to do so. I only took one and he asked if I wanted to take another, but I have a digital, so I knew that the photo was a good one. The Pirates do a lot in the community and Brain should be a favorite.

Re: Ducks Sign Brian Salcido

Sorry, I gave the photo to an eight years old fan. This little girl went and had a tee shirt made with his number. If I get the chance, I'll take another at practice tomorrow.
