Mighty Ducks stay alive

The Mighty Ducks survived to play another day after beating the Oilers 6-3 in Edmonton thursday night. It is the first win in Edmonton for the Ducks since 1999 and it couldn't have come at a better time as they are now down 3 games to 1 with game 5 in Anaheim on saturday. Giguere started in goal for the first time since April 24th and he got the job done. If the Ducks can win game 5, who knows what may happen in the series? It is a longshot to come back from down 3 games to none, but in hockey it has happened more often than in any other sport.

Re: Mighty Ducks stay alive

hasn't it happened 3 times? that's alot?
who knows? being in anaheim didn't seem to make a difference for them a few games back, so we'll see - edmonton's gonna be mad now. And what killed them was shots on goal - giguere stopped 20 shots - Roloson stopped 40. Not much of a test for Giguere at all. That is where they need to improve, and they will win.

Still six goals!...go Ducks...Ducks got two from younger Joffrey Lupul (who now has 9 goals in the playoffs) and the rookie Getzlaf got another goal and an assists...though a second rookie, Corey Perry only got 7 mts of time...I like the Ducks...this team has a lot of good young players...they can develop into a future great franchise.

Cool Re: Mighty Ducks stay alive

Gotta give those Disney Ducks credit. They could have easily packed it in.

Hey if the Cavs can win three in a row against the Pistons then the Ducks can do it against the Oilers. Didn't the Oilers win three in a row against the Sharks just last round? Didn't the Red Sox win three in a row to beat the Yankees? Article http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/H/HKN_MIGHTY_DUCKS_OILERS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPL ATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2006-05-26-08-10-15

Actually, the Oilers won the last 4 in a row over the Sharks, then 3 more against Anaheim. They are a streaky team, hope now the streak has been reversed. GO DUCKS!!

Re: Mighty Ducks stay alive

It is very rare indeed for a team to come back from a 3 games to none deficit. The 1942 Maple Leafs and the 1975 Islanders were the two in hockey. I found an interesting article on this very subject.

I guess the Oilers should be added to that list, too.

Oilers were down 2 games to none before rallying for a 4-2 series win over the Sharks. They actually won 7 games in a row if you include the first three games against Anaheim.
