Face of the franchise? Well, looking at his numbers with the Ducks, and the turnaround you mentioned, it's hard to argue otherwise.

I always thought Kariya had been the face of the franchise...He had some impressive seasons for them and his career started for them.

So?...It's like saying Hall of Famer Daryl Sittler can't even be considered for the face of the Leafs (or Sundin for that matter) because the team never won a Cup during their tenure...or Ray Bourque in Boston (had there been no Orr)...etc

He did not begin his career for them and has been in an out of the city...not the face of the face of the team in my book...more like a "Hired Gun"...Kinda like Eastwood in High Plains Drifter...

See Selanne came in as a Jet...and I have a brother who is a big Selanne fan...he even named his dog Teemu...so in my mind, he can't be a Duck...he is a Jet, or a white poodle dog...

Kariya came in as a Duck, he was a big draft pick for the newish team...so in my mind he is a Duck, regardless of where he plays...

I need constants in my life darn it!... I can't have fix points in my life move around like that...Selanne 76 goals as a Jet...so, he is frozen in time as a Jet for me...
