Ducks open training camp

The Anaheim Ducks have opened training camp, minus captain Scott Niedermayer and unrestricted free agent Teemu Selanne. Both players are contemplating retirement. According to the Associated Press, "The Ducks, who begin defense of their title with two regular-season games in London against the rival Los Angeles Kings, leave for England on Sept. 24. Before that, they will play seven preseason games in 11 days, starting with a matchup with the Kings on Thursday night." Can they win without these two, or are Niedermayer and Selanne too vital to the team's success?

Re: Ducks open training camp

They suspended niedermayer for not showing up at training camp.
All this is a formality, as the ducks do this so Neidermayer's $6.75-million won't count against Anaheim's salary cap while he tries to decide what to do with his life.
I would think, No, they can't win, they aren't the same team, especially without Niedermayer.
I do think these "star" hockey players should get off the pot. This is unfair. make up your frigging mind because there is more than you involved, is what i think. No I in team and all that crap.

I guess he's just following Roger Clemens, Brett Favre's and Michael Strahan's lead. All the other sports stars are doing it, so why can't I? Drives me nuts too, but unless the team's willing to give them ultimatums, what can you do?

Re: Ducks open training camp

now selanne has come out saying:
"Part of me wants to play, but right now, a part of me is not ready to do what it takes.
"I'm just going to wait a little longer and see how I'm going to feel when the season starts. Watching the game and being a little closer, I'll know for sure."
I give all duck fans the open door to despise Selanne now.
Can you imagine? oh sure, Teemu, take your time, do you want a hot toddy while you are relaxing and WATCHING the team play? just let us know, no hurry, we'll wait.
COME ON.
