Niedermayer sent a letter to the 50 members of the Chicago City Council, urging them to resist efforts to repeal the city's ban on foie gras - the delicacy from enlarged livers of force-fed ducks and geese.
"As an Anaheim Duck, I hate to see real ducks tortured so that a handful of wealthy chefs can serve their diseased organs," wrote Niedermayer, a B.C. native who was the playoff MVP last season. "Please uphold this compassionate law."

I had no idea - i just thought it was gross so i stayed away from it. Production of foie gras is banned in the UK, the Czech republic, germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland, norway, Denmark, Switzerland and Israel.
It will be illegal to sell In California in 2012.

I liked him the minute he became a member of the Anaheim Ducks. This a nice gesture on his part and I'm sure it well only enhance his popularity among Ducks fans in Anaheim and elsewhere.

So Niedermayer won't commit still. Camp's starting up and he's said he won't show up there, but he may still want to play some time during the season.
