Alabama has never had a Heisman winner but could this year be the first? With fifth-year senior RB Kenneth Darby, there's a chance. Last year he rushed for over 1200 yards with only 3 TDs. However, this year he should be the workhorse for Alabama's offense. I'm expecting those numbers to rise.

The only thing standings in his way is the fact Brodie Croyle is now in the NFL. Unless Alabama's new QB can be productive, teams will likely stack everyone in the box to stop Darby.

You would think they would have had one by now...Is this a case of Bear Bryant getting all the ink for years?...any one remember a Tide player that shouldhave won?...and wow...only 3 TD's with those 1200 yards...who gets the ball near the goal line?...Can't win the Award with 3 TD's...never gonna happen...

Ouch, am I reading this right? Darby averaged just 1.6 yards per carry against Hawaii and 3.1 per carry against Vandy? ESPN.com currently projects that he'll finish the season with only 540 yards on the ground, and he has yet to find the end zone in 2006? Not good, not good.

I think Mr. Darby can retire his dreams of not only the Heisman but also of beating the record at Alabama for consecutive 1000 yard rushing seasons. John Parker Wilson is being productive if not more productive that was Brodie Croyle, however, Darby simply refuses to drop his shoulders and run right at 'em. He dances all over the field trying to make something out of nothing which in turn costs the Tide yardage. I don't know if he is shaken by the pressure to beat the record or if he is still in fact a little bit hurt from his injury...all I do know is the Kenneth Darby I am watching every Saturday is not the same running back I saw last season...

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, AprilMills06, and thanks for joining us. I'm with you - I can't understand what's happened to Darby. I'd lean towards the injury being a factor. Maybe the dude's just afraid to take a hit, and that's why he's not hitting the hole as hard. Whatever the case, he's been a definite disappointment thus far in 2006.

I think that Darby needs to watch Jimmie Johns at practice this week and learn a few things. J.J is an awesome running back. He bigger and stronger than darby and runs to the whole instead of juking 3 or 4 times behind the LOS, as he did against AR!

J.J has a better chance of winning the heisman than Darby.

Darby will be lucky to get drafted. If I were him I would concentrate on getting my degree. Cause he's gonna be like the rest of us working stiffs.
