| Alabama QB John Parker Wilson QB Brodie Croyle was essential to the Alabama Crimson Tide revival last season, so it'll be interesting to see how John Parker Wilson replaces the departed passer. Interestingly enough, Street & Smiths seems to project Wilson as a better prospect than Croyle: "Wilson... is comparable to Croyle in arm strength. And he has escape velocity out of the pocket that Croyle didn't possess... 'He just needs to go play,' Shula says of Wilson. 'He's going to make some mistakes because of his experience, but he will make plays.'" So will the big plays outweigh the mistakes for John Parker Wilson in 2006?

| Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson He is, by default. I mean, Wilson isn't great, but its not like Bama has a ton of other options. Senior Marc Guillon has a chronically bad back and knee problems, and the only other QB of note, Greg McElroy, is a true freshman. I'll admit I haven't been following the Tide too closely, but it looks like its going to have to be Wilson, for better or worse. |

| Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson What's up with all this bragging on Brodie? Granted, he had his moments, but he probably caused injury to more receviers than any other QB in Alabama history! His passes were too high, too low, out of reach. He did zing it in there occasionally, and it was pretty. I wish Prothro was around. Anyways, I like what I see with JPW. He improves each game so far. His accuracy is much better than Croyle's and he can zing it just as hard. Stay tuned...I think JPW will stand out once he is comfortable. |

| Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson Hey, welcome to GoTeamsGo, goinbk2bma, and thanks for chiming in on the discussion. Wilson is just a sophomore, and he good arm strength. He may yet be a very solid QB with experience. Like you said, he'd probably look better with Prothro around, but I guess you've got to go with what you're given. How long until he gets confortable, you think? Will he be settled in by the Florida game? |

| Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson John Parker Wilson is such a better quarterback compared to Brodie Coyle if you think about it. His completion percentage is better than Brodie's at the same point in their careers and right now it looks like John Parker is going to have the better Touchdown to interception ration compared to Brodie also. I feel he is going to be much better than Brodie when they are both fully developed and i feel that he will also make the nfl but hopefully be a starter. Also we have our next quarterback also. His name Ross Wilson. Even though he says he not playing football i think eventually he will. He is just like John Parker except he is better physically and has better arm strength. Bottom Line is John Parker will lead the Tides to more than what Brodie could. |

| As far as JP, well, I have to say that he will run out of the pocket and make a few 1st downs on his own. He's still young. He WILL surpass anything Brodie ever did!! A QB has to be versitile, JP is, Croyle will never be. Off the subject a bit, Darby needs to sit and watch Jimmie Johns run the ball, since that is the only thing Shula knows to do. SHULA lost that game for us Saturday and if you say that Tiffin lost it for us, watch it again on CSS and analize the play calls. Especially the very last drive that was made before OT. # running plays to set up a freakin FG!!! Yeah, put the game on a FRESHMAN'S shoulders. That's what ya do, Ball coach!! Mark my words, we will go 7-5. |

| Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson Hi aic792002, welcome to GoTeamsGo. I thought Shula was in decent shape with most fans. Do you think he's on thin ice? Look forward to chatting with you.

| Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson rmjvol, thanks. Glad to be here and post my thoughts. Shula is welcomed, I like him. I think he can bring great things to the Alabama football program. On the other hand, Dave raider is the OC. Last week, (Friday) to be exact, a local sports radio show had Raider on and Raider was asked pretty much if Shula calls the Off. plays. The answer, yes! So, why have a OC? Why not delegate to your coordinators? Joe Kines, DC does his thing without Shula saying much at all. This I-form, single back, smash mouth crap has to be altered! He has a QB that will scramble, unlike (The Golden Child) that 90% of "Bamers' think Brodie was in J.P Wilson. he has an arm and knows where to throw it. He has no Prothro like Brodie did. Prothro made Brodie look good. J.P looks good without! I think after looking over film of Florida this week, lights should be going off in his (Shula) head on how to run an offense. Urban Myer knows how to! |

| Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson Well, his stats from yesterday look bad - 21 of 40 for 240 yards, 0 TD, 3 INTs - but Wilson did help keep the Crimson Tide in that game for a while. Florida's a tough team so you can't read too much into those numbers, I think. How about it, Bama fans? How do you think your boy J.P. did yesterday? |
