wow three ints?...See, Ithink Brodie would have done better...

Talking Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson

Ok. Let's put Brodie in his SO. year with a #5 ranked team, especially in the Swamp. What made Brodie look good? Ummmm..... Prothro!! I have not done the research but I still would lean toward J.P having done a better job than what Brodie would have done his SO. yr against a #5 ranked team.

One of the INT's came off of a tipped pass. The other two was soley on J.P, your right. Throwing off the back foot before a sack is not the way to go. He's young, after seeing his film this week, I bet you he will not do that again.

So, yea, yall are right, Brodie would have done better, as a SR.! You still can win with 3 INT's, look at most pro QB's, the stats for say, Chad Pennington, he could have 3 INT's, 300+ yds passing and still win a game.
By far, that was the best game Bama has played this season!! Oh yea, our golden leg, Christianson is back! LOL, he had a knuckle ball 20 yd kickoff and a knuckle ball 51 yd FG att.! Put Tiffin in!!!

Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson

Does anybody remember who Alabama recruited last year? Yeah McElroy. OK ok...JPW won 3 or 4 state titles in high school at Hoover....and not that i'm knocking Hoover at all...but who do they play? I mean really...if you want to argue who has better high school football (texas or alabama or california) then we can do that. Yeah McElroy only won 3 in his 4 years...but the kid is ACCURATE. Hell, Bama is 6-6...do we really lose anything putting him in and seeing what he has to offer.

Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson

He is alot tougher than any QB we've had in a while. He's not a whinner and he is a leader. A sophmore QB will be a great asset to any team whitin a year or two. What the heck hes not going to hurt the team because Mal Moore has already done that job. JPW will be a leader and one of the bama greats just watch and see!!!

Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson

I think he will be fire. If I am not mistaken he has already broken the single season record for throwing yards. Thats pretty good for any 1st year starting QB at any school. I think he will be fine.

NO! He is over-rated! Throws a 'floater' pass on long routes that causes interceptions!

Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson

The guy looks good in the pocket and can move the ball down the field -- at least to the red zone -- but then seems to freeze-up. He also appears to have a weak arm, and is fortunate to have had some receivers who could come back to the ball, and then scoop it up off of the ground. Basically, if the guy could get 8-10 more yards on a throw he would be superb!

THat is because he is a 1st year starter. He will learn. You cant expect him to be an all american this year or next year for that matter. He done better than shula did this year. I think if it wasn't for him we probably wouldn't have won 6 games

Yes I have to agree JPW is a good QB and he will only improve in the next couple of years. He is from the great state of Alabama and is playing for the great UA.

ROLL TIDE.

Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson

Arm strength is not a function of tenure in position, and he should be able to throw the long ball successfully NOW. These skills should have already been developed in any QB that is recruited by Alabama, whether he is an in-State kid or not (and perhaps we should be looking outside for better talent???). I also remind that there are other TRUE freshman QB's (not REDSHIRT like JPW) whose teams won their respective conference championships this year, and are now playing in better bowls (Wake Forest and UF). So, let's not get all hyped about the astounding athleticism and abilities of this guy JPW, when there are better folks out there, that we missed and failed to attract in our recruiting, and still yet other QB's may be up an coming. We need someone who can throw the long ball, and all I am saying is that JPW may not be it.

Plus, he doesn't get hurt like Brodie Croyle. He is tough.

He will really improve now that Saban can teach him a few things about his throwing mechanics.

Re: Alabama QB John Parker Wilson is likely a gonner...

As a proven winner in college ranks with a National Champ trophy on shelf, I think Sabin (like Spurrier), also knows and likes a different-style of QB than JPW can provide at UA, and will likely ditch him in favor of some yet-to-be found BIG, mobile and better arm-strength guy. I too think JPW has weak arm strength and folds-up inside the 20. JPW is great moving a ball down open field, where he has good vision and can tuck and run and slide, but then when he has things almost complete and the field tightens-up on the defense, he just can't seem to find a receiver or get the hard job done that scores the points (and last time I checked outside of 'Bama -- this is what wins games -- scoring the most points!!!). What is Mr. JPW's record for scoring inside of the 20-yard line (red zone), anyways? Wasn't both his and 'Bama's record for this like the worst in SEC? My best guess here is JPW's days at helm of UA offense are gone with Nick Sabin. And really, thoughts here are that is this is not going to be one day too soon!!!!!

Hold on let Nick evaluate the talent first for you go throwing JPW under the bus. Saban may be able to salvage him.

His accuracy is much better than Croyle's and he can zing it just as hard. Stay tuned...I think JPW will stand out once he is comfortable.
I agree 100% JPW is a great QB he is a big part of BAMA and he will win alot of the big games that we need him to win.ROLL TIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
