Tyrone Prothro

Roll 'Bama Roll has a good story right now about how important Tyrone Prothro is to the Alabama Crimson Tide offense. According to their stats, the Tide scored more points in the five games they had Prothro than in the seven after his injury - 33 more points, in fact, a 29.6 ppg average versus a 16.4 ppg average. So if Prothro's back and healthy in 2006, how potent will the Alabama offense be?

Re: Tyrone Prothro

The Decatur Daily News is reporting that Prothro is out for the year. Rotowire.com elaborates, saying "Three games into the season, he has reportedly undergone another surgery as recently as September 17th. Whether or not he will return in 2007 is still to be determined." Tough break for Bama but especially for this kid; here's hoping Prothro is able to come back next year.

Other than not 'kicking' Juwan Simpson off the team for 3 felony charges that sycophant Alabama judges reduced to misdemeanors....to save Simpson, then Shula chose the 'pancake' game (and only one) to suspend him,..........the biggest mistake of Shula's MANY dumb mistakes, was leaving Prothro in the Florida game (2005) 3 minutes into the 4th Quarter and leading the Gators 31-3, and Shula not satisfied but trying to connect with Prothro in the end zone on a 38 yard pass, and Prothro sustained a career ending injury, and loss of millions of $$$$$$$, and that's when Shula's (and the Tide's) TROUBLES really began!

Prothro can barely walk a year after the horrific injury!

Unfortunatley he may just be lucky to walk again. But he will forever be remembered for the catch.

tyrone prothro

Will tyrone prothro play in the 2007 season? I saw him at the A-day game and he was walking without a limp.

Re: Tyrone Prothro

tyrone prothro was alabama's offense. the only way alabama won 4 more games after prothro was injured, was the defense. For example, the missisipii state game: it was a scoreless game until halftime and then bamas defense rose up to the ocasion and forced a fumble and and a interception.

P.S: Jaime Cristensen was the reason that alabama won against ole miss, tennessee, and texas tech. bamas offense has to improve!

It has with the addition of a Head Coach.

Yes he will as Team Captain... imagine the opposing coach swallowing hard as he sees Tyrone line up at wide reciever. He is a game changer and that forces defenses to respect him.

Re: tyrone prothro

I certainly hope so. and you're right, not only will the opposing coach be swallowing hard, but so will the entire opposing team!

Re: tyrone prothro

Right now Tyrone is wearing a Black Jersey [indicating injury] but come the season opener look out!

Re: tyrone prothro

Hope no one minds but I merged the two Prothro threads into one... apparently the search engines really like the old ones, and that means we have a better chance of more Bama fans seeing it and joining our community here. That's a good thing.

Now, regarding Prothro... it certainly would be great if he comes back. I just hope he doesn't rush things and re-injure himself. Those of you who were at the A-Day game: he looked pretty good, didn't he? How close to 100% was he?

Yeah, I guess that makes sense... any indication as to how close he is to 100%?

In practice 75-85% he still has that X-Factor an explosiveness like Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers.
