| It's camp time! Is it commitment time as well? Alabama's final camp of the summer began on Sunday afternoon, with several dozen high school players from grades 9-12 on campus for hands-on instruction with Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide staff. More than 30 of those players are considered Alabama prospects, ones who have either already been offered scholarships or may be by the end of camp on Wednesday. Alabama has eight verbal commitments for 2009, and hasn't had a new one since fullback Mike Marrow of Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic pledged for the Crimson Tide on June 21. But that could change over the next four days, as several players the Crimson Tide is hotly pursuing will be on campus. Most of the commitment talk has centered around Carver-Montgomery two-way lineman Brandon Moore, who has been considered a strong Alabama lean for some time and was expected to be on campus this week. But Alabama's next commitment could come from someone else, perhaps a player who is not even on campus. Athens defensive end William Ming has also been considered an Alabama lean for months, and has stated publicly he'd like to make his college choice before his school year begins on Aug. 7. Ming wasn't scheduled to be on campus this week, at least not in an official capacity, but he could inform Tide coaches of his decision with a quick phone call at any time. Story
