THE SKINNY
Alabama has a major hole at right tackle, with junior Drew Davis — who has hardly seen the field in his first two seasons on campus — emerging with the starting job after spring practice. Nick Saban has never been squeamish about playing true freshmen, even on the offensive line, where the conventional wisdom dictates that players spend a year in the weight room before trying their hand at the college game. For Love, it will be all about displaying the necessary strength for the position. He's very tall but not overly big, but a summer in the weight room might change that.

His last name may be Love, but he is not showing any to opponents. Like his teammate from the 2007 class Williams Vlachos, Love is a tenacious offensive lineman. He quickly gets into defenders and delivers a good initial blow. He gets good placement with his hands and can be tough to beat once he gets locked on. He drives his legs and can get movement off the line of scrimmage in the run game. When he blocks down he is able to wash a defender down the line of scrimmage and take with him anything in his path. He has good feet and displays the ability to step and reach a defender. He moves well and displays the ability to get up to the second level and make contact with moving targets. As mentioned already, he is a very tenacious blocker that looks to bury opponents and plays until the whistle. He is a good pass blocker that can mirror a rusher. He displays the ability to bend his knees and play with sound technique. He does an excellent job of getting a good punch and getting position with his hands inside and controlling the defender. Love has good size and while he will need to add some bulk he should not have any problem adding size to his big frame. Love is a very good prospect because he has good size, plays the game well, and has a motor and nasty streak.
