| Position Analysis: Quarterbacks It's one of football's oldest axioms that a team will go only as far as its quarterback will take it. That should once again prove true with the 2008 Alabama Crimson Tide, which returns a highly productive third-year starter and a host of talented-yet-inexperienced backups under center. Projected starter John Parker Wilson (6-2, 213, Senior) Wilson has been an enigma during his Alabama career, putting up numbers never before seen in Crimson Tide history. He's set school records in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns in each of his two seasons as a starter, yet has posted just a 13-13 career record. The Hoover native seemed to lock down his starting job with a productive spring, his first under new offensive coordinator Jim McElwain. Ever since his high school days, Wilson has been at his best when utilized in a short, controlled passing game, and McElwain's schemes seem better suited to Wilson's skills than the downfield attacking passing game favored by former coordinator Major Applewhite. | Re: Position Analysis: Quarterbacks Ah yes Prothro He was great but what if does not apply it's what you do with what you have and JPW has not done every good with the receivers that he has had. Yes he has a lot of passing yards close to a lot of records but look at how he as faced adversity that is why he is 13-13 as alabama's QB. |
