| It's camp time! Alabama is smack-dab in the middle of the summer camp season, which has become one of the most important recruiting evaluation periods for any college football team in recent years. The Crimson Tide's first full summer camp concluded on Wednesday, with five more scheduled for the coming days and weeks. Alabama's high school kicking camp is set for Saturday, with the youth camp (ages 8-14) running Sunday-Wednesday. The offensive line/defensive line camp is set for June 21, followed by the second full high school camp set for July 20-23. Summer camps are a program's best opportunity to get players on campus, and have lately become a time for players to make their verbal commitments. Several members of Alabama's top-rated 2008 recruiting class committed during the camp season last year, while the Crimson Tide secured a verbal pledge from Clay-Chalkville defensive lineman Quinton Dial on the first day of camp last Sunday. Saban said he expects close to 3,000 players to get an up-close look at the Alabama campus and program during the summer camp season. Full Story
