| Alabama Opens SEC Tournament with Kentucky BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama baseball team will open the 2008 Southeastern Conference Tournament on Wednesday, May 21, as the Crimson Tide takes on the Kentucky Wildcats in first-round action. Alabama, the No. 5 seed at this year's tournament, finished second in the SEC Western Division behind LSU. Alabama also finished in a three-way tie for fourth-place with Kentucky and Florida. The Wildcats are the No. 4 seed at the SEC Tournament. The Crimson Tide (32-24, 16-14 SEC) won its last five SEC series to earn the No. 5 seed at this year's tournament. The stretch run included series wins over Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas, No. 22 Florida and No. 7 Georgia. Alabama and Kentucky met in the first weekend of SEC play this season in Lexington, with UK sweeping the three-game series. UK beat UA 7-5, 15-2 and 6-1 in the series. The Tide and Wildcats are meeting in the SEC Tournament for the fourth time and the first since 1998.
