Saban's Expectations

So far this season has seemingly gone pretty well. Saban got the # 1 recruiting class and improved team speed. Nick appears to have dealt with the leadership problems from last year evidenced by certain atheletes not being on the team anymore. Saban has had his controversies to deal with too so it hasn't been a cakewalk. Overall Alabama seems to be better poised than they were last year at this time. The summer session will be a make or break deal for incoming freshmen who need to spend thier time wisely in the weight rooms and watching film. Of course there will always be distractions like girls and parties and old friends who are hoping the player makes it to the big time and drags them along. All in all Saban has some hard choices ahead and he must continue recruiting even though his peers are trying to tie his hands. As a fan I can sit back and drink it all in but he has to find a way to win and win now.... Most of you guys are pretty well set in your ways by now. So if you don't have a favorite college team latch on to The Crimson Tide you won't be disappointed.

Most everybody

Well Richt did take some time off this month to take 15 or 20 players to Honduras on a fellowship mission - is that being lazy or out worked by Saban?

Each coach has his own take on things. Let me ask it this way how many coaches spent 240 man hours recruiting in May before the rule came into being?

How very true - some are devoted to guiding young men onto the path towards rewarding lives and some use them as tools to feed their egos and satisfy win at all cost fans. I'll take our way over the other ways.

Which May - this one or the last one?

Last May... before the rule went into place.

I totally diagree with this statement Saban is not using players as tools for some ego trip he wants his player to do things the right way on and off the field, in the classroom and in their everyday lives. Just as there are different ways of coaching there are also different ways of mentoring young men. You like Mark Richt's way thats fine I like Saban's but both are good ways to guide young men.
