| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players Use it to his advantage? I love your dedication to your team, but the reality couldn't be further from the truth. Players will look at that and decide to go somewhere where they can get drafted and enjoy a long, fruitful pro career. It's going to hurt Bama in recruiting, not help them.

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players It is a slap at the school and the graduating players. Not one player was taken in the entire draft... Even you Simon have to agree there had to be at least one player who should have been taken in seven rounds of selections. |

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players Lefty you and I have had our disagreements in the past... So take a long look at the Anti-Alabama bias in the media. We hold the most national titles by any school 12 National Titles and yet never had any Heisman winners? Why is that? Since the mid 1960s the national news media has had a bellyfull of Alabama winning and being in the hunt for National Titles. We went undefeated and untied 3 straight seasons and only got two titles out of it? They look for any way top besmirch the reputation of any coach that dared to stand in the shadow of Bear Bryant. Since the last championship in 1992 they have had laughs at our expense and no school gets the intense scrutiny from the NCAA like Alabama has had. So now that Saban is there the media has told the fans how he will run away with thier money. Then they try to tell us he is breaking recruiting laws with his teleconferences. Heck if you listen to ESPN Alabama is the worst program in NCAA history. The media tries to portray the Crimson Tide Fanbase as a bunch of toothless rednecks wearing overalls with no shirts running around barefoot spitting tobacco drinking moonshine. That image is what the ESPN crowd tries to make the rest of the nation think about our fans. The honest truth is they are jealous the more they come down on us the more we support out team. Did any body else have an average attendance of the past two spring games of 82,905? We cannot change the perception of the media but we hold fast to Crimson and White traditions of brotherhood and fandom. So while our detractors tell us about how we are going to suck we just remind them we are ALABAMA and we don't quit! |

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players Stoney, what does any of that have to do with what I said? Do you deny that blue-chippers won't look at the fact that Alabama had no players drafted as a positive? Crimson Tide tradition or not, it's all about "what can this school do for me" with today's players. Notre Dame and Nebraska are experiencing the same thing in recruiting. Tradition isn't enough for these kids anymore. If a school's players don't get drafted, it will hurt them, no matter who they are. |

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players Maybe Alabama players just weren't good enough. Do you, or anyone else, really think that NFL teams wouldn't draft a player that would help thier team? Hell, a Delaware QB got drafted. Obviously your players just didn't fill the needs of the teams. No more of an explanation is needed!

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players Stoney, maybe, just maybe, they didn't take the players because they weren't good enough for the NFL, if a team doesn't think you're good enough they don't take you, plain and simple. The teams didn't feel that any of the Bama guys were good enough and you know I think the teams are smarter than us.

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players We shall see the Giants and Bengals picked up a few players so let's see who makes the squad. My beef is the talent scouts bias they only look at a few pieces of game tape. MOST NFL SCOUTS BLOW IT! When it comes to picking talent they have no way to properly measure a kids heart and desire. Bill Polian is about the only GM who consistently finds the diamonds. New England's GM is another one who consistently outperforms the competition. So what are the other 32 GMs doing? I'm sorry I can spot talent. Watch and see Jacob Hester with San Deigo will be a stud with LT and the guy catches passes too. QB Matt Flynn will be a starter at Green Bay before his career is over. DJ Hall will not only make the Giants but will contribute this year. Same thing with Wallace Gilberry at DT he will be in Coughlins rotation before the end of the season. Anybody who takes the time to study players week in and week out [not just catch their highlights once in a blue moon on ESPN] can see that the level of talent in the SEC is the strongest. One thing that is missed by "Talent Scouts" is the ability to focus on the heart players. Just because somebody like Colt Brennan puts up unbelievable numbers in the WAC doesn't mean squat against real competition Georgia proved that. Yet Alabama took the same Georgia team to overtime and none of thier players get considered for the draft? LSU National title winner steamrolled an overrated Ohio State but struggled against the Tide yet nobody from ALABAMA gets a second look? Look there is something wrong with a system that rewards weak conferences that throw up ridicilous numbers against pitiful competition. They do it in bowl games and in the NFL Draft and these same prognosticators like Mel Kiper miss it every time. Most of the time the diamonds are buried under the Champions footsteps. Like the thorn in the side it would behoove the "Experts" to go back and watch who the champs strugged with and why. There will always be a player who quietly just goes about his business every down. That is the diamond. |

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players I will agree with you on one point. There were a few players that should have been drafted, but I don't see how that was the media's fault. The NFL have scouts and a committee that fugure out who to draft. They watch their own game film. I really doubt they rely on ESPN for it. Besides they would have to edit out all the Yankee coverage first
