| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players After reading throgh this thread, Here's what I think. We only had two players that were even draft options, Wallace Gillberry and Simeon Castille. Even if the scouts wew not impressed enough with their college play, Gilberry and Castille had a chance to raise their stock in the combines. Even though they were not drafted the were quickly signed as free agents. Next year could be different. I have heard LT Smith could be the overall number one draft pick of the 2009 draft. Bama will once again turn out players that are ready for the next level.

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players Paranoia: Paranoia is an unfounded or exaggerated distrust of others, sometimes reaching delusional proportions. Paranoid individuals constantly suspect the motives of those around them, and believe that certain individuals, or people in general, are "out to get them." |

No self-respecting GM's gonna let some newspaper beat writer tell him who to select. |

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players Mel Kiper knows nothing.... the local beat writers for newspapers have a much better clue as to what and who thier team needs than the GMs of the teams. The National Media {ESPN} is clueless when it comes to the draft. They are wrong 97% of the time. |

| Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players Stoney - So you think the NFL is wasting 150 - 200 millions dollars a year scouting players and preparing for the draft when they could simply ask the beat writers? Do you know where the beat writers get their scoops - GM's, coaches and scouts are the main sources. The salaries have gotten so high teams can't afford repeated bad drafts - thats why they spend money rather than read the local paper. |
