Actually he kind of did, 6 TDs and 6 Ints, only a little under 1300 yards. That's not really spectactacular.

In his defense, though, there wasn't a ton of talent around him. This year will be a better indicator of his potential.

I expect Brodie to be one of the better QBs this upcoming season.

Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players

After reading throgh this thread, Here's what I think.

We only had two players that were even draft options, Wallace Gillberry and Simeon Castille. Even if the scouts wew not impressed enough with their college play, Gilberry and Castille had a chance to raise their stock in the combines. Even though they were not drafted the were quickly signed as free agents.

Next year could be different. I have heard LT Smith could be the overall number one draft pick of the 2009 draft.

Bama will once again turn out players that are ready for the next level.

Tuck I too just read this thread - IMHO Bama had a lousy group of players in this draft - media bias the media doesn't pick players - NFL scouts do that Stoney - media bias - good grief.

Stoney look at it this way - in your mind Saban is the greatest coach to take a breath - the NFL took no Bama players in the draft - and you think Bama had NFL type players - then why did Saban looooooossssseeee so many games. He obviously had NFL talent - you said so. Which is it? Great coach - sorry players - sorry coach - great players. Your logic is flawed my friend

Nice of you to join us... Media bias has got a lot to do with it. Scouts are typically lazy going with popular opinion remember Ryan Leaf? All I am saying is the players got hosed. Were they first round talent? NO. Not even secound round. But Alabama should have had at least one player to be drafted. This type of shunning is indicative of the media they absolutely cannot stand Alabama. Let's watch and see where these "Players" end up. I fully expect to see Wallace Gillberry in the Giants DT rotation this fall.

Paranoia: Paranoia is an unfounded or exaggerated distrust of others, sometimes reaching delusional proportions. Paranoid individuals constantly suspect the motives of those around them, and believe that certain individuals, or people in general, are "out to get them."

Paranoia will just annoy ya... the truth still remains the media does not like ALABAMA. Even Lefty agrees with that.

Whether that's true or not, it still has no effect on a player's draft status.
No self-respecting GM's gonna let some newspaper beat writer tell him who to select.

You're quite right the beat writers know way more than the GM and the draft picks prove it!

Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players

Let me get this straight, you honestly think teams listen to Mel Kiper? If that was true, we would know what would happen in April.

Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players

Mel Kiper knows nothing.... the local beat writers for newspapers have a much better clue as to what and who thier team needs than the GMs of the teams. The National Media {ESPN} is clueless when it comes to the draft. They are wrong 97% of the time.

Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players

Stoney - So you think the NFL is wasting 150 - 200 millions dollars a year scouting players and preparing for the draft when they could simply ask the beat writers? Do you know where the beat writers get their scoops - GM's, coaches and scouts are the main sources.

The salaries have gotten so high teams can't afford repeated bad drafts - thats why they spend money rather than read the local paper.
