What can I say. I liked the guy. I also bet nobody gave Brady an extra thought either when he was drafted.

Nobody will believe me now, but back in the day I often times lost my mind when Brady kept getting benched for other, lesser QBs at Michigan. I knew he was good... never imagined he'd be THIS good, but I knew he had potential. I thought Major Applewhite would've been a solid QB too, but again, he kept getting benched for Chris Simms at Texas. To this day I wonder what could have been for their college careers had they been given the reigns of their respective teams. Whoops, I guess I'm veering off topic.

I don't like Matt Flynn, his game does not translate well to the pros. He is almost more of a fullback to me.

Re: Ultimate Disrespect to players

Talent is heart fire and desire meet opportunity. There are so many "Experts" on draft day yet the popular concensus is almost always wrong. That is why we get the crappy players we do. Each of you as fans should go back and look at your teams draft picks say over the last ten years. Look at each pick and see first if they made the team and secondly how much did that person contribute lastly was that person still on your team after four years. That my friends is how you can determine how good the draft pick was.

Great GMs like Bill Polian come along once in a lifetime. For all the "Football" experience some guys claim to have Bill continues to run rings around them even though he picks after them. The talent evaluation process used by most NFL teams consists of having a scout do some talking to a head coach of a college football team. Maybe watching a few game tapes. In professional gambling there are winners and losers they both gamble but one of them knows what he is doing the other thinks he does. I can tell you that if you look at game tapes and rate quality of opponents that Matt Flynn is top shelf material. Will he ever be the NFL MVP? I do not know. Will he be a player in this league? Yes. Will he be the best QB taken in the draft? In my opinion yes... but each of us has our own opinions. I think Atlanta made a gross error in taking Matt Ryan the only thing he will lead the NFL in is interceptions. {They should have taken Dorsey} This season the Falcons will have thier own version of David Carr. When does Vick get paroled? Laugh if your team plays the Falcons but you guys will see it for yourselves.

Bears I got to pick on you just a second... So what do Bears Fans know about QBs? Your team could have used Flynn in a huge way. I don't think that your current crop of QBs have the confidence or mental toughness that Flynn has. No offense but that would be like a Carolina fan talking about a running game {Which we don't have and haven't had since Stephen Davis}. Sorry but that was just too ripe of a picking not to step in and say something.

No, I think you were pretty much right on topic. Some feel that Flynn will be a good QB because tehy see talent in him the way you did with Applewhite. I see the same in Flynn. We just have to wait and see who is right.

Mental toughness and confidence are huge parts of parts of the game, but they can only carry you so far, talent is the exact same way. Rex Grossman has NFL QB talent, he throws it 80 yards, but he doesn't have the mental toughness to overcome mistakes. Therefore making the Rex Grossman Bears' fans know and hate.

True but the Bears need someone with all those qualities Flynn has them Grossman doesn't. The Bears need to find a QB before the season starts.

They have three, but one is Rex Grossman, one is Kyle Orton, who the Bears really don't know that they have, then two undrafted free agents. Colorado St.'s Caleb Hannie and Southern Illinois's Nick Hill.

I like Caleb Hannie a lot, he did very well on an awful team. Plus I haven't totally written off Kyle Orton.

Maybe you need to take a look at this and see what Saban is saying.

Thanks for reminding us how important it is to play every down like it was your last one. Saban knows what he's doing when it comes to motivation.
