Nick Saban looked to today's A-Day Game as a chance to see how the younger players would perform under the spotlight of fans and pressure at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
So as assistants controlled each team, Saban -- like last year -- wore a sports coat and stood close to the action in the middle of the field. Most of the time he stood behind the offense looking at the defense, and there was a reason behind it.
Saban noted later that he made sure to watch
the eyes of his younger defensive players.
The explanation was pretty interesting ...
"It's a little too personal to me to share with you the look in their eye, but some of them had a good look and some of them didn't have a good look," Saban said. "Like I said before, we've got enough show dogs around here, we're looking for some hunting dogs. That's the look we're looking for. We've got enough of them worried about how their britches fit and how they look out there, how their hair-do is. We need some guys that want to go dominate the guy they're playing, get some hat speed and get after them and tackle them and block them and make plays and compete and do all that stuff." Full Story
