| Spring drills resume; Saban pleased TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama resumed spring football practice Monday after a nine-day hiatus for spring break and coach Nick Saban seemed satisfied at the intensity and effort of the Crimson Tide. In the past, Alabama football coaches who have had practice interrupted by spring break had groused about the focus of the team, but Saban was unusually cheerful Monday after watching a spirited practice session. "I'm very pleased with the way the guys came back," he said. "We asked the players to work out three days in terms of a little bit of running, a little bit of simulated training, a little bit of weight lifting. I'm sure we had a significant number of guys who did that, I'm sure we had a few who didn't and there's no way to check it, but I was really pleased with the carryover we had from the (two) days (of practice) we had before."
