TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama football team had a bit of a surprise waiting when players returned to the Capstone from spring break. Rejoining the team for the third of 15 spring practices was Luther Davis.

The sophomore defensive lineman had been excused for the last couple of weeks of the Fourth Quarter offseason conditioning program and the first two workouts of spring football for personal reasons. But Davis was fully dressed and on the practice field when the Crimson Tide worked out in full pads Monday afternoon.

“He’s had an opportunity to work through some of his personal issues that were affecting his performance and ability to perform academically as well as athletically,” coach Nick Saban said. “We’re pleased and happy to have him back, and I’m sure it’s going to take him a while to get back into playing shape but we’ll certainly try and help him any way that we can.”
