| Softball Tops UAB, 10-1 BIRMINGHAM – The University of Alabama softball team used power at the plate and solid pitching to defeat the UAB Blazers, 10-1, Thursday night at George Ward Park in Birmingham. Ashley Holcombe, Lauren Parker and Charlotte Morgan blasted home runs as the Tide overcame an early 1-0 deficit. Alabama received good pitching efforts from starter Charlotte Morgan, Kelsi Dunne and Allison Moore to shut down the Blazers as the Tide allowed only three hits while notching 12 strikeouts. With the victory, Alabama improved to 18-1 on the season while UAB fell to 13-11 for the year. On the mound, Dunne picked up the win for Alabama with three innings of hitless relief work to improve to 7-1 on the season. She entered in relief of Morgan to start the third inning and shut down UAB by striking out five of nine batters faced without allowing a hit, walking only one in a 41-pitch outing. Morgan started and went two innings for the Tide, allowing one run on two hits, striking out four and walking one while throwing 42 pitches. Moore closed it out for the Tide, working two scoreless innings and allowing one hit, striking out four and walking one while throwing 39 pitches.
