DENVER, Colo. – University of Alabama senior utility player Jordan Praytor was recently selected by the New England Riptide of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Softball League in its annual Senior Draft. Praytor, a two-time All-Southeastern Conference selection (2006-07) and a 2008 Preseason All-American by ESPN.com, was taken with the 22nd selection overall in the fourth round of the draft.
"Jordan is one of the best offensive players in the game of softball and we are happy that New England recognized her,” said UA head coach Patrick Murphy. “She is a rare triple threat: bunting, slapping and a great power game."
Praytor currently ranks among all-time Alabama career leaders in three statistical categories: hits (8th with 210), stolen bases (3rd with 85), and runs scored (5th with 161). She earned All-Tournament honors last weekend for her play during Alabama’s three games in the University of Washington Classic in Seattle during which she hit .400 (4-for-10) at the plate with a double and had two stolen bases, scored a run and reached base once via a base on balls.
