Re: Alabama Football Recruiting

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am looking forward to reading the post and replying to them. I have been a Alabama fan for over 40 years and love to keep up with the recruiting. I'm excited to have a coach like Nick Saban and believe Bama is on the way back to what football at Alabama is about.

Re: Alabama Football Recruiting

There a couple of good recruits in the Mobile area. In fact more than usual. the one that seems to get the most attention is Sidell Corey out of McGill. I don't know much about him except he has commited to Florida but has open his recruitment up and Alabama is now being considered. He was well coached and McGill had a good year. There's is also Brandon Gibson who up to a couple of weeks ago was Bama all the way. He still puts Bama at the top of his list but is visiting other schools. That always concerns me. I sure I haven't told you any thing you don't know but I can tell you that Brandon said on TV after Nick Saban was hired that he knew Alabama couldn't call him during the dead week but he wonder if he could call Alabama. That sounds hopeful. As far as Sidell goes most of what I know is he seems to be at least considering Alabama.

His high school coach is very optimistic about the kid and thinks Saban could improve his chances of going higher in the NFL draft.

Re: Alabama Football Recruiting

That's good to know. I have'n't heard that. I hope his coach is encouraging him to go to Bama. It would be a great pickup for us.

I know he has until Feburary 10th to make a decision but he was seen eating BBQ at Dreamland last Saturday with his old man.

Sounds Good, I mean the fact that he's at Dreamland eating Barbeque. Saben's coaching would definitely be benefical to any player. This is where I think Alabama will reap the benifits of hiring Saben and the money is already producing a return.

Urban Meyer has no answer to the power of BBQ and Sweet Tea done just like Granny did it. Not to mention the place is right there near the campus. He will be in the fold and Florida will be left crying...gator tears.

Sure he does. It's called a BCS championship. BBQ is BBQ, but nothing is as sweet as the taste of success.

I agree that Bama needs to expand their recruiting nation wide but please do not think that home grown talent is not available.

My daughter is in her high school band so I attended every game our high school played (class 4A division 5) and was amazed at the talent that I saw throughout their season. every game was hard fought and every team I saw had at least 2 outstanding players. Bottom line is..there is an abundance of talent throughout high school football, all they need is development.

Re: Alabama Football Recruiting

I also agree that we need to recruit outside the state. At the same time, I feel there are too many good recruits from the state that we lose to schools outside of Alabama. I believe that CNS may change that in his tenure at Bama.

Where have you guys been the #1 Running Back out of Michigan Mark Maise changed his commitment to Alabama just because Saban is there. Please read up on the recruits before making statements.

Re: Alabama Football Recruiting

That's good news. I knew he was looking at Bama but have not seen where he has committed. But my main point was that Bama is missing out on some good talent right here in Alabama. I also mention that that will change with Saban being the coach.

I guess you didn't see about Saban meeting with Jarrod Cooper of Brewton did you? Saban isn't missing much at all.

Re: Alabama Football Recruiting

I think you are missing my point. We seem to be agreeing that we already recruit in Alabama. What I saying we seem to miss some good oportunities right here in the state. But I am not talking about Saban so much as I am about the past coaches. We did not recruit Jarmarus Russell. I don't know about Pat White but he was from Mobile. I don't see it as a serious probllem but you have to admit players like these should have not gotton away. Both have led their schools to sucessful seasons. I know I am not telling you anything you don't already know. I just think you have gotten the impression that I was talking about Saban and I was not. Roll Tide!
